How to care for a crocheted yarn toy?
Here are some simple tips to keep your toy looking lovely and clean for years.

1. Hand washing is the best option
   Hand washing is the best way to maintain the toy’s shape and softness.
   – Fill a bowl or sink with lukewarm water (up to 30°C).
   – Add gentle baby shampoo or wool detergent.
   – Submerge the toy and gently press it to remove dirt (avoid vigorous scrubbing or wringing).
2. Machine wash – only if necessary and gently
   If the toy is heavily soiled and hand washing is not enough, you may use a gentle cycle:
   – Place the toy in a laundry bag or pillowcase to help it keep its shape.
   – Use cold water (30°C) and a gentle spin cycle (preferably 400–600 rpm).
   – Avoid fabric softeners, as they can change the texture of the item.
3. Drying – air dry, not in a dryer
   Do not wring – gently press out excess water.
   Roll the toy in a towel and press lightly to absorb moisture.
   Let it dry flat and shape it back to its original form. Avoid hanging it, as this may stretch the toy.
   Do not use a tumble dryer or radiator, as heat may damage the yarn and make it fuzzy.
4. Removing small stains
   Use a damp microfibre cloth and dab lightly on soiled areas.
   Small stains can also be cleaned with baby wipes.
5. Storage and long-term care
   If the toy is not in constant use, store it in a dry and ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight, which can fade the colours.
